Halie is an associate in the firm’s telecom, media and technology practice. She represents a range of clients in the telecommunications and technology industry, including wireless companies, media content and service providers, industry associations and investors. Halie assists clients on a variety of matters before the Federal Communications Commission (FCC or Commission), including regulatory licensing, rulemaking and compliance. She also advises clients on spectrum-related issues, including spectrum leasing arrangements.
Prior to joining Akin, Halie primarily served as an attorney advisor within the FCC’s Wireless Telecommunications Bureau where she played a key role in advising agency leadership on spectrum licensing and policy matters. Halie also served as a primary drafter for multiple Commission items—helping craft regulatory frameworks in proceedings related to, among other things, supplemental coverage from space, commercial space launches and reentries, and reallocating spectrum for additional uses across various spectrum bands. In addition, Halie played a key role in advising agency leadership on matters related to combatting contraband wireless devices in correctional facilities.
Halie earned her J.D. from American University Washington College of Law, where she served as an articles editor for the American University Business Law Review and as junior staff for the National Security Law Brief. During law school, she served as founder and editor-in-chief of the Blockchain & Cryptocurrency Law Society blog, and as an associate justice of the SBA Supreme Court. She was recognized as a pro bono honors graduate for exceptional service honors for her commitment to pro bono service. Halie received a B.A. in political science and philosophy from Mississippi State University.
She is a member of the Federal Communications Bar Association and the International Association of Privacy Professionals.
