Biography
  • Concentrates on a wide variety of financing transactions, representing private equity sponsors, hedge funds, financial investors, special situation investors, portfolio companies and other corporate borrowers.
  • Focuses on private equity-related corporate finance, direct lending, special situation financings and out-of-court and in-court restructurings.

Jaisohn Im is head of Akin’s finance team. Jaisohn has extensive experience with leveraged acquisition and recapitalization transactions, syndicated loan financing, cash flow and asset-based lending, debtor-in-possession financings, restructuring the balance sheet of overleveraged companies, direct lending and special-situation opportunities.

Jaisohn’s clients benefit from his significant experience analyzing distressed debt investments and his strong understanding of the market trends that impact their businesses.

Representative Work
  • Represented an ad hoc group of creditors in the Sungard Availability Services Capital bankruptcy, including exit term facilities following Sungard Availability Services Capital’s exit from bankruptcy proceedings and its ABL credit facility.
  • Advised Sorenson Communications in connection with its $725 million first lien credit facilities and $230 million second lien credit facility.
  • Advised DynCorp International Inc. in connection with its $430 million first lien credit facilities.
  • Advised American Zinc Recycling Corp. in connection with its $100 million term loan credit facilities.
  • Represented an ad hoc group of noteholders in the Parker Drilling Company bankruptcy, including a ABL credit facility and second lien term facility following Parker Drilling Company’s exit from bankruptcy proceedings.
  • Represented an ad hoc group of noteholders in the American Tire bankruptcy, including a FILO DIP credit facility and exit credit facilities following American Tire’s exit from bankruptcy proceedings.
  • Advised LifeCare Holdings in an out-of-court recapitalization of their capital structure, including the refinancing of its credit facilities.
  • Advised DynCorp International Inc. in a complex recapitalization transaction, including the refinancing of its existing credit facility and issuance of third-lien notes.
  • Represented an ad hoc group of noteholders in the CHC Helicopter bankruptcy, including a first-lien credit facility and second-lien convertible notes following CHC’s exit from the bankruptcy proceedings.
  • Represented a private equity fund in its $92.5 million term loan to a coal company.
