Biography
  • Represents debtors, creditors, bondholders, debtor-in-possession lenders and acquirers of businesses and assets in large, complex chapter 11 cases and out of court restructurings.
  • Ranked as one of the industry’s leading restructuring lawyers by Chambers USA and Legal 500, and recently named one of The Deal’s Top Women Dealmakers in Restructuring.

Meredith Lahaie advises on complex restructuring cases of all sizes, both in and out of court, and has handled matters for clients in industries as varied as real estate, retail, energy, shipping and entertainment. She is regarded as one of the industry’s leading young restructuring lawyers, and in the last five years deals in which she played a central role have been recognized with 14 awards. Clients have remarked to Chambers USA that “Meredith is outstanding. She's easy to deal with and appears well in court”; and “She is very much in charge of strategy and process but also brings a soft touch."

After receiving her law degree, Meredith clerked for the Honorable Adlai S. Hardin, U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of New York.

  • Yellow Corporation: Counsel to the Official Committee of Unsecured Creditors in the chapter 11 cases of Yellow Corporation, an American-based trucking and transportation services company that operated one of the largest less-than-truckload networks in North America, involving over $1.2 billion of liabilities.
  • Loyalty Ventures: Counsel to Loyalty Ventures and its affiliates, an operator of customer loyalty programs, in their chapter 11 cases involving over $656 million in liabilities.
  • Chesapeake Energy: Counsel to Franklin Advisors in the chapter 11 cases of Chesapeake Energy and its affiliates, the second-largest producer of natural gas in the U.S., involving $9 billion in liabilities. Successful Restructurings of the Year (Turnarounds & Workouts)

  • Dean Foods: Counsel to the Official Committee of Unsecured Creditors in the chapter 11 cases of Dean Foods and its affiliates, the largest dairy company in the U.S., involving $1 billion in liabilities.
  • Sungard: Counsel to Sungard Availability Services and its affiliates, a global operator of colocation data and disaster recovery centers, in their chapter 11 cases involving more than $500 million in liabilities and the sale of substantially all of the company’s assets.
  • Strike: Counsel to the Official Committee of Unsecured Creditors in the chapter 11 cases of Strike and its affiliates, one of North America’s largest pipeline and energy infrastructure providers, involving $300 million in liabilities.
  • GEO Group: Counsel to an Ad HOC Group of Senior Unsecured Noteholders of The GEO Group and its affiliates, the world’s second largest operator of secure facilities.
  • Brooks Brothers: Counsel to the Official Committee of Unsecured Creditors in the chapter 11 cases of Brooks Brothers and its affiliates, the oldest apparel brand in the U.S., involving $300 million in liabilities. Consumer Discretionary Deal of the Year (M&A Advisor)
