Shant is an associate in the firm’s financial restructuring practice. He represents both domestic and international clients in a variety of complex restructuring matters and advises creditors and other stakeholders in chapter 11 proceedings.
Shant was an Akin summer associate. Prior to joining the firm, Shant was a judicial intern for the Honorable Claire C. Cecchi, U.S. District Court for the District of New Jersey. Prior to that, he was a mortgage broker and real estate agent for the State of California.
Shant earned his B.A. from University of California, Los Angeles and his J.D. from Columbia Law School, where he graduated with honors and served as a staffer in the Columbia Human Rights Law Review. He also received an L.L.M. in International Criminal Law from the University of Amsterdam.
