(Moscow, Russia) – Alexey L. Kondratchik has rejoined Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld LLP as a partner in Moscow, the firm announced today.

The announcement follows the recent promotion of Andrei V. Danilov to partner in Moscow, effective 1st January, 2009. Mr. Danilov is one of 15 attorneys worldwide elected to the firm’s partnership.

These appointments bring to seven the number of partners in Akin Gump’s Moscow office.

Mr. Kondratchik represents large corporations and private investors from Russia, the U.S., Western Europe and China in connection with oil, gas and mining projects – including joint ventures, mergers and acquisitions, corporate restructurings and financings – in Russia and other countries of the former Soviet Union.  He is listed in the International Who’s Who of Oil & Gas Lawyers as one of the top practitioners in Russia.  He received his law degree from Latvian State University, did post-graduate work at Moscow State University and earned his LLM from New York University. A native Russian speaker, he is also fluent in both English and Italian.

Rick L. Burdick, Akin Gump’s international managing partner, said, “Alexey is a superb corporate and energy lawyer with the skills and experience required to lead complex transactions.  His broad and deep knowledge of Russian law – and in particular, his expertise in energy matters – will serve our clients well.  We are very pleased to welcome him back to Akin Gump.”

Mr. Danilov’s practice focuses on domestic and cross-border merger, acquisition and disposal transactions, and international capital markets transactions. He has experience across a number of industry sectors, but in particular in energy and telecommunications. He received his law degree from the international law faculty of the Moscow State Institute for International Relations. He is fluent in Russian, English and German.

Richard J. Wilkie, partner in charge of Akin Gump’s Moscow office, commented, “We are very pleased to welcome Alexey back to the firm and Andrei to the partnership.  These appointments are indicative not only of their strong capabilities and experience but also the strength of our office in Moscow and our optimism for the region in the long term.”
