(Geneva) Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld LLP is pleased to announce that, for the second consecutive year, it has been named to Global Arbitration Review’s GAR 100 guide to the top law firms with international arbitration capabilities. The GAR 100 identifies “dependable counsel around the world who are versed in international arbitration.”
The GAR 100 - 2013 cites highlights of Akin Gump’s international arbitration practice’s work during the past year, including a victory for British Columbia in an LCIA claim brought against it by the United States concerning alleged breach of the 2006 softwood lumber agreement and an €11 million award on behalf of Carlson Anse Marcel in a dispute over renovation of one of the client’s hotels in the Caribbean. Akin Gump international arbitration practice head and partner in charge of the firm’s Geneva office Charles Adams is described by a leading arbitrator as “one of the most persuasive advocates he knows.”
Now in its sixth edition, the GAR 100 serves as a guide to firms considered expert in international arbitration. Candidate firms go through an extensive evaluative process, including vetting by Global Arbitration Review’s researchers for the components that comprise specialization (reputation, work volume, experience), consultation with other firms, external sources and information proprietary to the publication.
