Akin Gump Expands Health Industry Practice With Addition of Two Nationally Acclaimed Partners

(Washington, D.C.) Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld LLP announced today that Christopher L. Keough and Stephanie Ann Webster have joined the firm’s health industry practice as partners in its Washington office. Previously, both were partners in the Washington office of another large international law firm.
Mr. Keough and Ms. Webster concentrate their practices on representing hospitals on Medicare and Medicaid reimbursement issues. They join a team of nationally ranked attorneys who advise clients across a vast spectrum of matters that impact the health care industry.

Mr. Keough focuses primarily on Medicare and Medicaid reimbursement and compliance. He regularly represents hospitals in a broad array of reimbursement litigation matters and has been extremely successful as lead counsel in several of the largest reimbursement disputes in the history of the Medicare program. Mr. Keough also handles administrative, civil and criminal actions involving alleged false claims or fraud and abuse in federal health programs. Additionally, he counsels clients on federal health regulatory matters.
Mr. Keough has been named among the nation’s top health care lawyers by publications such as Chambers USA: America’s Leading Lawyers for Business, Best Lawyers in America, Super Lawyers and Nightingale’s Healthcare News. He received his B.A. from Franklin and Marshall College and his J.D. from George Washington University.
Ms. Webster guides clients through the complex spectrum of issues related to Medicare and Medicaid reimbursement. She counsels hospitals regarding payment and compliance and represents them in administrative and federal court litigation.
Ms. Webster previously served as an attorney for the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services Division of the Office of General Counsel for the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services and has been recognized by Chambers USA: America’s Leading Lawyers for Business and by Nightingale’s Healthcare News as an “Outstanding Healthcare Litigator.” She received her B.A. cum laude from Yale University and her J.D. from the University of Virginia.
