Akin Launches Health Policy-Focused Podcast, “OnAir: Health Care”

(Washington, D.C.) – Akin Gump is pleased to announce the launch of OnAir: Health Care, a podcast that will delve into the complexities of—and relationships between—medical science, health care policy and “bare-knuckle Washington politics.”
“Following the success of Akin Gump’s flagship OnAir with Akin Gump podcast, OnAir: Health Care will drill down deeper into the issues that matter most to those interested in health care policy and regulation,” said Akin Gump senior policy advisor Matthew Hittle, who will host the podcast along with Akin Gump consultant Dr. Mario Ramirez. “Our hope is that listeners will come away from each episode better informed on the major issues driving health care policy today, and hopefully will have some fun in the process.”
Prior to joining Akin Gump earlier this year, Mr. Hittle served as senior advisor to Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) Administrator Seema Verma. Dr. Ramirez, meanwhile, is a former White House Fellow and Acting Director of the Office of Pandemic and Emerging Threats at the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS).
Each episode of OnAir: Health Care will include a look at recent health care news and provide analysis from scientific, policy and political perspectives; discuss timely issues related to national and global health issues such as the COVID-19 pandemic; and recap recent health care events in Congress. Episodes will also feature special guests, both from within and outside of the firm, discussing and opining on timely health care topics.
OnAir: Health Care launched with a conversation with Akin Gump health care and life sciences partner Kelly Cleary, a former Deputy General Counsel at HHS and Chief Legal Officer at CMS.
