(Washington, D.C.) – Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld LLP was named “Energy Law Firm of the Year – Eastern Europe” at the third annual Chambers Awards. The ceremony, held on May 21 in London, honored the world’s leading lawyers and law firms.

In accepting the award, William D. Morris, partner in charge of the firm’s Moscow office, commented, “For more than a decade Akin Gump has been dedicated to serving clients in sophisticated energy transactional matters in Eastern Europe. We are extremely pleased that our successes have been recognized by both our clients and our peers.”

The Chambers Awards recognize law firms from around the globe for their work in 14 specialties in Africa, Australasia, Canada, Eastern Europe, the Middle East, South America, the United States and Western Europe. Firms are short-listed for the awards based on the results of an extensive year-long survey of the legal profession, in which both lawyers in private practice and general counsel worldwide rate the top practitioners and firms in the world. An independent panel of judges then selects the winners.

This year’s judging panel included lawyers and general counsel from ABN AMRO Bank, Standard Chartered Bank, British Airways, Tate & Lyle, ICI, Orange SA, Balfour Beatty and BMA.
