Akin Gump is cited in a Reuters article for its pro bono representation of two same-sex couples who sued the state of Texas for the right to marry.

The article addresses the large number of U.S. law firms that are representing challengers to state laws banning same-sex marriage. Not a single member of the Am Law 200, according to Reuters, is defending gay marriage prohibitions.

Earlier this year, Akin Gump attorneys, on behalf of the two couples, secured an injunction blocking sections of the Texas Constitution and Texas law prohibiting same-sex marriage and recognition of same-sex marriages performed out of state. The case is awaiting a hearing before the 5th Circuit Court of Appeals.
