Akin Gump Recognized for Bankruptcy Work

(Washington, D.C.) – Bankruptcy industry publication Turnarounds & Workouts has recognized Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld LLP’s financial restructuring practice and three of its lawyers for their roles in key transactions.
Partner Fred S. Hodara was named as one of Turnarounds & Workouts’ Outstanding Restructuring Lawyers of 2007. Mr. Hodara was recognized for his representations of various informal committees in Nellson Nutraceutical and Remy, the largest creditor of Refco Capital Markets, and the Joint Official Liquidators of two Bear Stearns subprime hedge funds that are being wound down under the laws of the Cayman Islands.
Partner Philip C. Dublin was selected as one of Turnarounds & Workouts’ Outstanding Young Restructuring Lawyers of 2008. One of only a dozen young lawyers chosen, Mr. Dublin was recognized for his representations of official and unofficial creditors committees, including Calpine, WorldCom and TOUSA, as well as DDJ Capital Management in connection with the Wornick Company chapter 11 cases.
Partner Ira S. Dizengoff was recognized for his role as lead counsel in the restructuring of Granite Broadcasting, one of Turnarounds & Workouts’ Successful Restructurings of 2007; the firm also represented committees in three other restructurings on that list (Calpine Corporation, Remy International and Solutia).
