(Washington, D.C.) – Akin Gump is pleased to announce that, effective May 6, 2019, it will have moved into new office space in Washington, D.C. The firm’s new Washington, D.C. address will be 2001 K Street NW, Washington, D.C. 20006.

Akin Gump will occupy approximately 185,000 square feet of space in the top four floors of Alexander Court’s North building, the Robert S. Strauss Tower, and will have a dedicated reception as part of the building's two-story corner lobby.

Designed by the world-renowned firm of Pelli Clarke Pelli Architects in collaboration with Fox Architects, the building features floor-to-ceiling glass on all sides that bring abundant natural light to each floor. The building, which is seeking LEED certification, includes onsite amenities such as a 7,500 sq.-ft. fitness center, a rooftop conference facility and a Ruth’s Chris Steakhouse as well as other commercial space. The building is centrally located in downtown D.C., within walking distance to four Metro lines.

The space was designed to be a comfortable, welcoming environment for clients, visitors, lawyers and staff. Conference and meeting space, both formal and informal, is located throughout and designed to foster collaboration. Meanwhile, significant outdoor spaces, sit-to-stand workstations for all lawyers and staff, and an open and light-filled design all contribute to an inviting and positive working environment.

Anthony T. Pierce, partner in charge of the firm’s Washington office, commented, “We are excited to welcome our clients to our fantastic new location. This space was thoughtfully designed with several key goals in mind, including collaboration, inclusivity, sustainability and convenience—and I think we achieved all of that and more. The Strauss Tower will serve as a model 21st-century law firm office and an outstanding home for us in Washington for many years to come.”

Akin Gump’s Washington office was established in 1971 and is home to more than 500 lawyers, advisors and staff, making it among the largest law firms in Washington. The full range of the firm’s practices is represented in the office, including its highly regarded litigation, appellate and Supreme Court, public law and policy, international trade, corporate, intellectual property, regulatory and labor and employment practices.
