(London) – A group of 25 partners arrived at Akin Gump today in London, Hong Kong and Frankfurt from Bingham McCutchen, adding substantial depth and experience to the firm’s global platform. This follows a series of announcements made by Akin Gump in September regarding the pending arrival of Bingham’s London, Hong Kong and Frankfurt offices to the firm. With today’s arrivals, 21 partners have joined the firm’s London office, two have joined in Hong Kong and two have joined in Frankfurt. They are also joined by more than 30 counsel, associates and trainees across the three offices.

The firm anticipates additional partner and associate arrivals in Hong Kong over the coming weeks. In all, Akin Gump anticipates adding a total of more than 60 fee earners to the firm from Bingham across these offices.

For the immediate future, Akin Gump will maintain two locations in London, with the firm assuming Bingham’s lease for its offices located at 41 Lothbury, London EC2. Akin Gump will also assume Bingham’s offices in Frankfurt, located in OpernTurm on Bockenheimer Landstraße. In Hong Kong, the incoming team will join the firm at 18 Chater Road, Akin Gump’s current location. Akin Gump intends to combine its London offices in a single location as soon as possible, while the process of fully integrating the new partners into the firm begins immediately.

The incoming group features a top-tier U.K.-based financial restructuring practice, led by partners James Roome, Barry Russell and James Terry. Mr. Roome assumes the role of senior partner at Akin Gump in London, sharing leadership duties with Sebastian Rice, who serves as partner in charge of the office. The group also includes significant partner additions to the firm’s funds, corporate, finance, litigation, regulatory, tax and antitrust practices.
