Claudius Modesti, a litigation partner at Akin Gump, has been quoted in the Bloomberg Tax article “SEC Seeks to Fill One of the Toughest Accounting Jobs” speaking about Wes Bricker, the Chief Accountant at the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) who recently announced he would step down after three years in the position.
While at the SEC, Bricker, the article notes, supervised the implementation of two historic accounting standards. He also led the preparations for a third and oversaw the Public Company Accounting Oversight Board (PCAOB) as it transitioned to new leadership after all five of its members were replaced in 2017.
Modesti, who served as the PCAOB’s first enforcement director before joining Akin Gump earlier this year (click here to learn more), said Bricker left his mark on the auditing profession, most notably by encouraging the largest accounting firms to add independent and external members to their governing structure.
