Devry Boughner Vorwerk Quoted in The Washington Post on Obama’s Cuba Trip

Akin Gump senior policy advisor Devry Boughner Vorwerk has been quoted by The Washington Post in the article “Lobbyists descend on Havana for Obama’s historic Cuba Trip,” previewing President Obama’s trip to Cuba.
As the article notes, this is the first time a sitting U.S. president will have visited Cuba in nearly 90 years. The visit comes a little more than a year since President Obama announced that Washington would reestablish diplomatic relations with Havana.
“With the president’s visit, this is a launching point,” said Vorwerk, who leads the U.S. Agriculture Coalition for Cuba, a group of more than 100 agriculture industry groups and companies. “It will significantly change the commercial relationship between the U.S. and Cuba and with companies. Engagement builds the confidence of investors and those that want to trade with Cuba.”
Vorwerk, who is among those in Cuba this week, was also mentioned in POLITICO’s “Morning Agriculture” column for her efforts in helping to get Congress to support President Obama’s push to improve trade with the communist nation.
