(Washington, D.C.) – Akin Gump’s Firmwide Diversity & Inclusion Council along with its leaders, firm chairperson Kim Koopersmith and chief diversity and inclusion officer Nimesh Patel, have been named recipients of Diversity Journal’s Diversity Team Awards.

Now in their second year, the awards recognize those who work together to support and advance diversity, inclusion and equity within their respective organizations. The award also celebrates the inclusivity that diverse individuals, working together as members of a team, represent.

Akin Gump’s Firmwide Diversity & Inclusion Council brings together diverse perspectives to address issues such as recruitment, retention and advancement. The council also promotes diversity within the legal community through partnerships with clients and targeted outreach to lateral candidates, law school students and the not-for-profit community.
