Akin Gump corporate partner Dino Barajas‘s article, “One Hand Washes the Other,” on renewable energy development in Latin America, has been published by Energy + Infrastructure magazine.

The article discusses the ways in which renewable energy technologies “are now changing the energy landscape throughout the region.” Renewables developers, coping with economic downturn and political uncertainty in Europe and the United States, have begun focusing on Latin America and the Caribbean, even as the region’s governments have “modified their electric utility regulatory frameworks to accommodate the introduction of renewable energy into their electric distribution systems.”

The article goes on to describe both the benefits for the region’s countries and renewable energy companies from renewables development as well as some of the challenges for project developers.  It closes with the advice: “The secret to navigating these rich environments is assembling the right team armed with market knowledge, language skills and business acumen.”
