Houston Business Journal Names Alison Chen an Outstanding Diversity Champion

(Houston) – Akin Gump tax partner Alison Chen has been named an Outstanding Diversity Champion as part of Houston Business Journal’s 2021 Diversity in Business Awards.

Ms. Chen was the only lawyer selected for this honor, which recognizes individuals “who have shown outstanding initiative to promote diversity and inclusion either in the organization or community, making a positive difference in others’ lives through contributions to social justice, equality and diversity.”

Ms. Chen chairs Akin Gump’s women’s initiative efforts, and helps lead its Women’s Firmwide Resource Group. She is also a member of the firm’s Houston office diversity committee and the Asian Firmwide Resource Group.

First introduced in 2017, the Business Journal’s Diversity in Business Awards honors organizations and individuals who have shown “exceptional commitment to promoting practices that advance diversity and inclusion in the workplace, as well as in business leadership.”

Ms. Chen, along with the other honorees, will be recognized at a virtual awards ceremony on March 25.
