Bloomberg Big Law Business has quoted Akin Gump senior policy consultant Hunter Bates in the article “Lobbyists Anticipating Spike in Business Under Trump’s Order.” The article solicited the thoughts of several Washington insiders on what the election of Donald Trump might mean for the lobbying industry.

Bates, a former chief of staff to Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell said, “There’s an enormous excitement in the business community to get some things done and move from gridlock to the goal line on tax reform, infrastructure and health care.” He predicted that lobbying activity will swell as fears of regulation are replaced by client wish lists.

Bates added, “We’ve had a lot of debate and discussion over the last eight years, but not a lot of legislative accomplishment. That scenario will change quickly.”
