David Turetsky, a partner at Akin Gump who co-heads the firm’s cybersecurity, privacy and data protection initiative, was quoted by Inside Cybersecurity in the article “Tech official says ISAOs need legislation to fulfill potential.”

According to the article, a private-sector team is beginning the process of developing standards for ISAOs or information sharing and analysis organizations, following an executive order by President Obama earlier this year, promoting ISAOs as enabling sharing among a wide range of groups.

Turetsky, however, said there is “a greater sense of urgency” around passing cyber information-sharing legislation in the Senate. He also said real-time sharing won’t really be fully developed without the liability protection that the legislation offers. Similar legislation passed the House of Representatives in April.
