Janet Tang Named Among Asia’s Leading Lawyers

(Washington, D.C.) – For the sixth year, Janet Jie Tang, a partner at Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld LLP in Beijing, has been named in Asialaw Leading Lawyers as a leading M&A lawyer in Asia, the firm announced today.
Asialaw Leading Lawyers aims to identify the region’s most highly acclaimed legal experts across key practice areas. For the 14th edition of the guide, more than 9,500 senior corporate executives, in-house counsel and lawyers at regional and international law firms were asked to identify leading practitioners based on their work and reputation.
For more than 16 years, Ms. Tang has advised U.S. and western European clients on business transactions in China, including all forms of foreign direct investment, mergers and acquisitions, cross-border commercial transactions and pre-merger antitrust filings. Her clients include some of the world’s largest generic pharmaceutical, advertising, cosmetics, media, Internet search, consumer financing, software, entertainment, fast food and lodging companies.
Before entering private practice, Ms. Tang was the assistant to the secretary general of the Chinese Society of International Law and an assistant lecturer of public international law at the Foreign Affairs College in Beijing. She has served as an arbitrator at the China International Economic and Trade Arbitration Commission since 2008. She is a graduate of the Peking University Department of Law and the Northwestern University School of Law.
