(Los Angeles, California) – The Hollywood Reporter has once again named P. John Burke and Howard D. Fabrick, partners in the Los Angeles office of Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld LLP, to its annual list of “Power Lawyers: The 100 Most Influential Attorneys in Entertainment.” Messrs. Burke and Fabrick were also named to the publication’s inaugural “Power Lawyers” list in 2007.

In compiling its roster of “the attorneys who wield as much power as they moguls they represent,” The Hollywood Reporter sought input from “the most plugged-in executives within the entertainment community.” The publication recognized Mr. Burke as one of “the creative minds keeping deals moving and finding money where there isn’t any” and singled out Mr. Fabrick for being “the labor lawyer that other labor lawyers have turned to in sticky situations for more than 30 years.”

Mr. Burke focuses on media finance, with an emphasis on motion picture transactions. He advises financial institutions, investment banks, studios, equity and hedge funds, independent production companies, distributors and high-net-worth individuals on financing film, television and other projects. He has extensive experience with film slate financings, distribution agreements, tax-advantaged financing, subsidies and co-production arrangements in various countries throughout the world. He has also represented major studios and others in the creation, acquisition and development of various themed attractions, including related retail entertainment complexes.

Mr. Fabrick represents the producers of motion pictures, television programs, live productions and television commercials, as well as various enterprises that provide support services for the entertainment industry. He regularly deals with the talent guilds and craft unions that represent employees involved in all aspects of production. He also handles the negotiation of collective bargaining agreements, the interpretation of complex rules governing film and television production, arbitration and the adjustment of disputes. Earlier in his career, Mr. Fabrick was vice president of labor relations and personnel at Columbia Pictures, vice president and director of business affairs and labor relations at The Burbank Studios, and vice president and counsel at the Association of Motion Picture and Television Producers.
