The Hill quoted Akin Gump public law and policy partner John Jonas for its article “Health lobbyists prepare for Republican control and 'total war' on ObamaCare,” on possible changes to the Affordable Care Act (ACA, or “Obamacare”) in the wake of Donald Trump’s victory and the GOP’s retention of control of Congress.

Jonas, whose practice focuses on representing health care clients before the U.S. Congress, said, “A repeal of the ACA or major portions of it still leaves open many difficult policy questions, such as how you deal with pre-existing conditions; subsidies; tax or others that help individuals cover the cost of insurance, as well as how best to bend the cost curve. We anticipate working with the administration and Congress to address these difficult issues which will continue to challenge the healthcare system. These challenges will need the active participation of the healthcare community.”
