The Lawyer has quoted Akin Gump chairperson Kim Koopersmith in the article “The High Court Brexit ruling will just prolong the uncertainty for banks” regarding a ruling by the United Kingdom’s High Court that parliamentary approval will be required before Britain can leave the European Union.

According to the article, the finance industry will be affected more than any other sector by the ruling with banks wary of making any big decisions before the Brexit departure process begins. Passporting, in particular, is the major concern.

Koopersmith, however, is optimistic that a solution will be reached. “Our sense is that the ingenuity and creativity of the financial sector in London would ultimately prevail,” she said. “The ways and means to continue providing financial services into Europe (and indeed other markets) from London would be found.”
