Akin Gump entertainment and media practice head John Burke was quoted by the Los Angeles Times for its article “Wang Jianlin's film studio plan in China has a Hollywood following” on plans by the wealthiest man in China to build the world’s largest movie studio in Qingdao, intended to draw Hollywood studios to film at this facility.

Regarding challenges facing this project, Burke noted, “It's a significant announcement. The difficulty is going to be working out creative controls and providing a sufficient number of A-level crews in China to make multiple studio-quality movies concurrently. The studios are going to test the waters because they need to have a Chinese partner. They will start making movies down there and see how that works out.”
