Contact:
(Washington, D.C.) – Latin Lawyer, in its international trade law survey, has selected Akin Gump among “the names that governments and private companies operating in Latin America need to know to make the most of global trade links and avoid falling foul of the rules.”
In profiling the firm’s “vibrant international trade practice that wins praise from peers,” Latin Lawyer spotlighted Akin Gump’s four-decade history of practice in this field and noted that this “has allowed it to cultivate a strong network of government connections.”
Among the practice’s areas of strength noted by the publication are advocacy (“helping clients to influence foreign and, unusually, compared to other firms dealing with Latin American trade work, domestic trade policy”), trade remedies and customs work, and WTO litigation.
Latin Lawyer also spotlighted three of the firm’s practitioners: partner Stephen Kho, whose experience at USTR and leadership role in WTO and NAFTA in dispute resolution proceedings are noted; counsel Casey Richter, whose Spanish-language skills and customs law and regulation work are featured; and Geneva-based senior counsel Alan Yanovich, who brings WTO and Andean Community experience to the table.
Founded in 1945, Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld LLP is a leading international law firm with more than 850 attorneys in offices throughout the United States, Europe, Asia and the Middle East.
