(Washington, D.C.) – For the third year in a row, Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld LLP has been named to The National Law Journal’s Appellate Hot List.
The NLJ called Akin Gump’s 24 victories in 2009 “emblematic of the firm’s stature in appellate law,” citing Chau v. Starbucks Corp., 174 Cal. App. 4th 688 (Calif. Ct. App. 2009), In re Mutual Funds Investment Litig., 2009 WL 225931 (4th Cir. Jan. 30, 2009) and Epistar Corp. v. International Trade Commission, 566 F.3d 1321 (Fed. Cir. 2009) among them. The NLJ noted that the practice’s “global scope, advocacy skills, grasp of issues, comprehension of precedent and anticipation of potential U.S. Supreme Court intervention are all first-class.”
In compiling its third annual list of firms “that made singular contributions to appellate practice during the past year,” the NLJ sought firms that scored at least one significant appellate win since January 2009 and “could boast an impressive track record overall.”
Akin Gump’s 25-lawyer appellate practice is nationally recognized for its exceptionally experienced and respected lawyers. Prominent in the practice are a former federal appellate court judge, a former state appellate court judge and a former long-term assistant to the solicitor general.
