Akin Gump entertainment and media practice head P. John Burke was quoted by Bloomberg Business for its article “China's Richest Man Marks Push Into Hollywood With Jake Gyllenhaal Movie” on PRC investments in U.S. films.

The article notes that Chinese companies such as Alibaba Group Holding Ltd., Tencent Holdings Ltd. and Dalian Wanda Group Co. are doing deals in Hollywood, Wanda being the first of them to finance a film, in this case, Southpaw, starring Jake Gyllenhaal.

Burke noted, “The Chinese are looking to the U.S. for ‘know how’ in making films with international appeal.”
