Phyllis Derrick Assumes Presidency of Women in International Trade

(Washington, D.C.) Phyllis L. Derrick, an economist in the international trade practice of Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld LLP, has assumed the presidency of Women in International Trade (WIIT DC). WIIT DC is a nonpartisan professional organization in Washington, D.C., for women who share an interest and expertise in the field of international trade. WIIT DC is the largest chapter of the Organization of Women in International Trade, a global association of women trade professionals.

Ms. Derrick advises clients on trade remedy cases, both in petitioning the U.S. government for imposition of duties on behalf of domestic clients and in defending international clients against allegations of dumping and subsidization. She has over three decades of experience in counseling companies and in administering trade laws. In the latter regard, she served at the Department of Commerce’s Import Administration for seven years, where she developed, directed and coordinated programs to administer U.S. antidumping laws.
