Rex Heinke Honored as One of California Lawyer Magazine’s Attorneys of the Year
(Los Angeles) –Rex Heinke, co-head of the Supreme Court and appellate practice at Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld LLP, is the recipient of one of California Lawyer magazine’s 2013 California Lawyer Attorneys of the Year (CLAY) Awards.
The CLAY Awards recognize individuals whose achievements “had a significant impact in 2012.” Heinke was selected in the area of Employment Law (Defense) for arguing the appeal in Brinker Restaurant Corp. v. Superior Court before the California Supreme Court. The case resolved what California Lawyer describes as “years of uncertainty by setting out definitive guidance on the often-litigated issue of the amount and timing of meal and rest periods for nonexempt employees.”
Heinke, who was recently recognized by Daily Journal in its “Top Verdicts” feature for his work on the Brinker case, will be honored along with other CLAY Award winners at a reception on March 12.
