Rex Heinke Named Among California Lawyers of the Year

(Los Angeles, California) – California Lawyer magazine has named Rex S. Heinke and Catherine A. Conway of Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld LLP in Los Angeles as recipients of this year's California Lawyer of the Year (CLAY) awards.

The 14th annual CLAY awards recognized 44 attorneys whose achievements had a significant impact in 2009 and/or whose work is expected to have such an impact in the coming years.

California Lawyer recognized Mr. Heinke, a partner in the appellate practice, and Ms. Conway, a partner in the labor and employment practice, for their success in persuading the Fourth District Court of Appeal to reverse a trial court’s ruling that Starbucks’ policy of divvying tips among workers was illegal, overturning a $105 million damages award to a certified class of baristas.
