Akin Gump partner Sebastian Rice was quoted in International Financial Law Review in the article “How to Revive UK Private Equity.”

On the topic of the Royal Bank of Scotland’s recent IPO of insurer Direct Line as a bellwether for the UK private equity market, Rice noted that while he hopes Direct Line will boost UK listings, it is difficult for one deal to signal a market’s return. He stated, “I’m slightly skeptical of IPOs being an immediate solution. We’ve been waiting so long for the market to come roaring back, and I’m not sure that one listing can change everything so dramatically.”
