Stephen Davis, a partner in Akin Gump’s energy and global transactions practice, is quoted by ICIS Heren in an article on a recent transaction between Dominion and GAIL Global (USA) LNG LLC.

GAIL Global entered into an agreement with Dominion for 2.3 mmtpa liquefaction capacity in Dominion’s Cove Point LNG liquefaction terminal project in Maryland. According to the article, this is third project to be considered by the Department of Energy (DOE) for a non-free trade agreement (FTA) export license.

Davis, who led the Akin Gump team representing GAIL in the matter, says the two companies feel they are in an “excellent position for the DOE and the non-FTA export authorization process.” He adds that there has been a growing level of bipartisan support for “at least some level of exports from the U.S.”
