Law360 quoted Akin Gump energy partner Steve Davis for its article “4 US Regions Where Oil, Gas Infrastructure Needed Most,” which discusses areas in the United States that need infrastructural development to get newfound oil and gas to market.

Davis said, “It reminds me of the old baseball adage, ‘You hit 'em where they ain't.’ That's essentially what's happened in the oil and gas context, because we have new production or expanded production in areas that historically haven't had production or have had lower levels of production. The combination of those things has led to a tremendous buildout in the midstream sector, but it takes a while.”

One of the areas discussed—the Eagle Ford Shale in Texas—needs infrastructure growth despite being in the leading oil and gas producing state in the country.  Davis commented, “Again, it's the dramatic increase that's created the need. South Texas is a big area and the production is so spread out.”
