Akin Gump pro bono partner Steven Schulman, who recently began his tenure as president of the Association of Pro Bono Counsel (APBCo), co-authored, along with two APBCo board members, the article “Any Pro Bono Brawl Should Be For More Access To Justice” for Law360.

The article discusses the debate over New York rules requiring lawyers to report their pro bono hours and charitable contributions to the state—in particular, concern that these reports could be made public—and addresses arguments raised by opponents to the mandatory reporting, as quoted in the January 17 Law360 article "Pro Bono Privacy Brawl Brewing At Upcoming NY Bar Summit."  It also discusses a distinction drawn in the article between pro bono work done by lawyers at large firms and that performed by small firm lawyers and solo practitioners.
