Akin Gump pro bono partner Steven Schulman was quoted by ABA Journal for its article “Firms team up to tackle systemic race issues,” on the ongoing work of the Law Firm Antiracism Alliance (LFAA).

The article notes that the LFAA was brought together for U.S. law firms of all sizes to collaborate in tackling systemic race issues together and alongside legal advocacy organizations in a wide range of areas of law, including access to justice, public benefits, immigration and criminal.

Schulman said that the group is “doing something different” and operating without an existing playbook or model. However, one guiding principle is that racial justice advocacy organizations would direct the work, noting “We are coming with humility. We know that people have been working on these issues for years. We’re trying to reinforce their work.”
