Akin Gump pro bono partner Steven Schulman has been quoted by The American Lawyer in the article “Trump’s Election Sparks New Interest in Pro Bono,” which reports that donations have poured into public interest groups since the election of Donald Trump. Law firm pro bono coordinators, the article says, are also seeing a spike in offers to volunteer.

At the same time, however, the article notes there is some uncertainty over just what the Trump administration will do. “Most groups are urging caution,” said Schulman. “We don't want to overplan.”

Still, there is one area, Schulman added, where some are feeling pressure to act quickly. “The most urgent discussions are around immigration. That’s an area where it’s more predictable than others where individuals might be affected.”
