Akin Gump energy regulatory partner Suedeen Kelly and senior counsel Vera C. Neinast have co-authored a chapter for the book Beyond the Fracking Wars, due to be launched on October 24.

The chapter, “Getting Gas to the People: Federal Energy Regulatory Commission’s Permitting Process for Pipeline Infrastructure,” reviews the Natural Gas Act of 1938 and describes the types of pipelines (production, gathering, transmission, local distribution and storage facilities) and how they are regulated.

Kelly co-chairs Akin Gump’s energy regulation, markets and enforcement practice and was a FERC commissioner under presidents George W. Bush and Barack Obama. Prior to her energy regulatory work at Akin Gump and another law firm, Neinast was a staff attorney at the FERC.
