(Dallas) – Akin Gump counsel Iain Wood and associate Julie Feldman are being honored on October 30 by Human Rights Initiative (HRI) of North Texas and presented with its Outstanding Associate Award for the Women & Children’s Program.

Mr. Wood and Ms. Feldman provided pro bono representation of a deaf woman who was a victim of domestic violence. With the help of an interpreter, they were able communicate with the woman, who was only fluent in Korean sign language, and represent her in a petition to keep her safe from her abuser.

HRI provides free legal representation and social services to indigent victims of human rights abuses.
