Akin Gump’s Wynn Segall, a Washington, D.C.-based partner in the firm’s international trade practice, was interviewed by Metropolitan Corporate Counsel on the changing face of U.S. and international economic sanctions against Iran and the impact that this shifting landscape could have on corporate governance.

The interview used as its jumping-off point Standard Chartered’s recent $340 million penalty, levied by New York’s Department of Financial Services, for having allegedly concealed information about hundreds of millions of dollars in Iran-related transactions it processed through its New York branch.  Segall then discussed systemic risks in these cases, U.S. government sanction and export control enforcement trends and the implications of all this for corporate governance and compliance

The interview can be read in its entirety here.
