International Trade Law Review – 7th Edition has published a chapter authored by Akin Gump international trade partner Matt Nicely, counsels Devin Sikes and Julia Eppard and associate Brandon Custard. The chapter, “United States,” discusses the recent developments of U.S. trade remedy law and provides outlooks for the future.

Looking at the increasing scope of recent remedies actions, the authors note that “[t]he prevalence of international trade remedy proceedings has steadily increased in recent years, with approximately 460 [anti-dumping] orders and 164 [countervailing duty] orders in place against a myriad of products from 62 countries.” Adding that the number of proceedings are likely to persist, as “governments take measures to restore economies following the Covid-19 pandemic.”
