Akin has once again been recognized in Global Arbitration Review’s annual GAR 100 guide, which ranks the world’s leading law firms for international arbitration. Akin placed just one position outside the GAR 30, with GAR noting that the firm was close to breaking into the top tier.

GAR highlights the strength of the firm’s international arbitration practice under the leadership of Mark Clarke. The publication also underscores the depth of Akin’s London‑based arbitration team, including Jonathan Brierley, a leading adviser on energy and infrastructure disputes, as well as the continued momentum of the firm’s growing Middle East practice, co‑led by Graham Lovett and Shane Jury in Dubai. Counsel Michael Stewart was also recognized as a rising talent in the Middle East.

The guide notes Akin’s role in a number of high‑profile matters, including its representation of Kuwaiti logistics group Agility. This work includes securing a US$1.17 billion ICC award against Korek Telecom in 2024 for breach of a loan agreement, as well as successfully enforcing a US$1.65 billion ICC award before the DIFC Courts.

GAR also notes that Akin was recognized separately at the GAR Awards 2026, where the firm was named Middle East Practice of the Year, reflecting the strength of its arbitration work in the region.

Akin’s global international arbitration practice traverses Europe, the Middle East, the Americas and Asia, enabling the team to support clients in complex, high-stakes cross-border disputes worldwide.

Commenting on the ranking, Mark Clarke said, “A year ago, we set about strengthening Akin’s international arbitration team. I am delighted to see our progress recognized by GAR, and I am grateful to all the colleagues and clients who have supported the development of the practice. In the coming years, we will make further additions to the team, as we look to build a collegial, future-fit and sustainable practice that will continue to deliver real value to our clients in their most complex international disputes.”
