The first was the new, updated and modernized standard contractual clauses for the transfer of personal data outside the European Economic Area (EEA) and the second was the separate draft set of Article 28 standard contractual clauses between controllers and processors, aimed at assisting companies in the EU with the requirement for a contract between the controller and processor. Given the wide use of the standard contractual clauses implemented under the old Data Protection Directive, the impact of any amendments to the framework is likely to be significant.
