Akin Gump government contracts partner Angela Styles was interviewed on the Federal News Network radio program “Federal Drive with Tom Temin” to discuss the Office of Federal Procurement Policy (OFPP) and what to expect from President Biden’s Buy American executive order. Styles is a former OFPP administrator.
Styles spoke about some of the priorities for whomever Mr. Biden picks to lead OFPP, observing that it will be “critically important” for that individual to be involved in the Office of Management and Budget, and the White House at a political level.
Styles also talked about an expected increase in enforcement generally, which she said, “makes it ever more important that there be modernization in the suspension and debarment process because you can’t have somebody treated one way at one agency and treated a different way and another agency.”
Regarding Mr. Biden’s “Buy American” executive order, Styles said she expects there to be “a pretty significant reliance on the [Federal Acquisition Regulatory] Council” for issues like that and also on climate change.
