Angela Styles Discusses OFPP Administrator Nominee on Government Matters Program

Akin Gump government contracts partner Angela Styles has been featured on the “Government Matters” television program and in a companion website article, “Suggested first priorities for new OFPP administrator once confirmed.” Styles, who recently joined Akin Gump (learn more here), is a former Office of Federal Procurement Policy administrator. For this broadcast, she discusses some of what Michael Wooten, President Trump’s nominee for the post, will have to confront upon taking office.
Speaking of Wooten’s first priorities, Styles pointed out there is already an agenda in place. But, she said, it is necessary to look at where the President’s management agenda is, what the [General Services Administration] has done and what [the Department of Defense] is doing, maybe a little bit about what [the Department of Homeland Security] is doing.”
Styles also spoke about Wooten’s likely partners as he begins his new job and what she wishes she had known when she took the job, including what she described as “the most important piece, listening to the people who have been there for a long time.” The career people, she added, “really do have sage and wise advice about how to get from to A, to B, to C. Really listening and understanding what they’re saying is so important to getting the job done well.”
