Akin Gump Supreme Court and appellate practice co-head Pratik Shah was quoted in Bloomberg Law’s “November Argument the Calm Before the Storm?” The article looks at the cases the Supreme Court is scheduled to hear next month, which focus on issues the article says are not likely to galvanize the public.

The low-profile line-up of cases in November probably was not purposeful, said Shah. Instead, it “is likely just a function of the normal certiorari process. After all, many of those cases were granted before Justice Anthony Kennedy announced his retirement.”

Shah added, “The real question is whether the court will more consciously avoid provocative cases for the second half of the term.”
