For its article “Harvard, UNC Race-Based Admissions Cases Put Supreme Court Justices on Collision Course,” Bloomberg quoted Akin Gump Supreme Court and appellate practice head Pratik Shah.

The article discusses how a college affirmative action case that will appear before the U.S. Supreme Court (Students for Fair Admissions, Inc. v. President and Fellows of Harvard College) on October 31 will “pit the court’s liberal wing against Chief Justice John Roberts and his dream of a constitutional ban on racial preferences.”

The Court’s current 6-3 conservative majority, Bloomberg writes, means that Roberts is likely to prevail over the liberals, a view that Shah endorses, noting that the outcome is practically “preordained.” He added, “This is the chief’s court on this issue.”
