Corporate Counsel has quoted Akin Gump public law and policy practice co-head Brian Pomper in the article “GCs in ‘Wait-and-See’ Mode Over Trump’s NAFTA Revamp.” The article reports that many general counsel are withholding any big statements or moves until the fate of the North American Free Trade Agreement is resolved.

The United States and Mexico are said to have reached an agreement on the trade pact, the article notes, though many details of the proposed deal are not yet known. Canada is also reportedly prepared to negotiate.

“I think folks are awaiting the final details before making a final judgment,” said Pomper, a former chief international trade counsel to the Senate Finance Committee.
