Akin Gump public law and policy partner Clete Willems participated in a virtual panel discussion on the topic of World Trade Organization (WTO) subsidies reform. The panel was moderated by Akin Gump senior policy consultant Wendy Cutler, who also serves as vice president of the Asia Society Policy Institute.

Willems, a former WTO litigator at the Office of the U.S. Trade Representative who also served as a senior trade negotiator in the Trump administration, spoke about some of the biggest roadblocks of concern for subsidies reform at the WTO. He also addressed the issues of managed trade, negotiating bilaterally and Chinese trade policy.
