Akin Gump congressional investigations practice co-head Raphael Prober was quoted in the Financial Times article “Trump under scrutiny: eight issues for House Democrats.” The article reports on the issues that the new Democratic majority in the House of Representatives, beginning in January, is likely to pursue with regard to investigating the Trump administration.
The article notes that the new chairs of several House committees are expected to put President Trump and his administration under heavy scrutiny, including in the areas of Mr. Trump’s tax returns, his businesses and Russia, among others.
According to Prober, “Democrats are thinking very carefully about how they’ll use their subpoena authority. All of this will go into the mosaic they will be putting together in the run-up to the 2020 presidential election.”
Prober and fellow congressional investigations practice co-head Steve Ross recently co-authored a piece in The Hill discussing the likelihood of increased congressional oversight in 2019; more information can be found here.
